Mail Disciplina Networks offers a full mail solution. Currently we support:
* SMTP +TLS
* POPS / POP + TLS
* IMAPS / IMAP + TLS
* Sieve + TLS
* SMTP-AUTH + TLS
Each user is given a 50 meg quota on the mail infrastructure and the ability to access their mail in any form they choose, with the one provisor that it must be encrypted. The reason for this is that Disciplina Networks uses a LDAP backend for all of its services, which has many benefits, but also means in our case that you have one password to access our services. The consequences of having this password in clear text on the wire is that anyone who can see it can access not only your mail, but any other services you are authorized to access, hence the requirement that ALL services you use on Disciplina Networks be authenticated with strong encryption.
Sieve is a relatively unknown mail protocol but has very large implications for your usage of mail services like IMAP and webmail. What it is, is a way to setup filters on the mail server itself so that you can automatically match mails as they arrive and take certain actions on them. Currently there are not a lot of MUA's that support sieve, however, all is not lost if your mail client doesn't as we also offer a mail administration interface so that you can configure sieve via the web!
SMTP-AUTH is an increasingly popular means of securely sending mail on the move. It enables us to allow all our users to send mail via the Disciplina Networks infrastructure from anywhere in the world, without having to configure things like the users IP each time. Most MUA's support smtp-auth (clients like Outlook refer to it as "mail server requires authentication to send mail") and we highly recommend that you configure it for your usage.
In addition to the above means of accessing your mail, we have also configured a webmail interface. This webmail interface offers all the facilities you expect from a modern webmail as well as a few additional features. In particular you are able to use pgp to sign and encrypt your mails sent via the webmail interface, as well as view mails that have been encrypted to you. All your preferences (well almost all) are saved to the LDAP backend, so that when you next login the webmail interface will remember them all. This enables you to extensively customise the webmail interface to your liking to maximise your usage.
All Disciplina Networks mails are sent encrypted from our server to the destination server IF the remote server supports it. Unfortunately this is not normally the case, so we recommend that all our users employ endpoint encryption like PGP or its like.
